Nepal Pilgrimage

The Dakshinkali Temple in Pharping in the south west of the Kathmandu Valley is a temple dedecated to the godess Kali. She was one of the three wifes of Shiva. Kali is a demon slayer. You can see her often with blood on her hands and the head of a demon in one of her left hands.  Kali is worshipped with animal sacrifices like goats.  

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and as long as humans memories go a center of pilgrimage.

Seven small towns in kavre are said to be built by king Anandadeva after he got the directions of the goddess chandesvari.  Banepur (Banepa) near Chandesvari Pitha. Panauti near Prayaga tirtha of Nepal. Nala near Nala Bhagavati, Dhulikhel near Narayana, Khadpu near Dhanesvra, Chaukot, near the resident of Chaukora Rishi, Sanga near Nasiko Pitha.

The as an UNESCO world heritage listed temple complex of Pashupatinath in the east of Kathmandu is a very old religious site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Pashupatinath which is the biggest Shiva complex in the world consist of 492 temples and more than one thousend shivalingams. Daily thousends of pilgrims visit Pashupatinath, with a top day on Maha Shivaratri when hunderds of thousends of pilgrims come to pay their tribute to Shiva.
