Sita wife of Ram

Sita is the wife of Ram who is the main character in the Ramayana and the 7th incarnation of Vishnu. Sita is the reincarnation of the Goddess Lakshmi.

Siddhartha Gautama Sakya Buddha

Sleeping Vishnu Budhanilkantha Temple

In the village of Budhanilkantha north of Kathmandu lies a 5 meter tall sleeping Vishnu (Jalasayana, he who sleeps on the waves) in the middle of a small pond. The sculpture from the 5th century represents Vishnu's sleeping in the cosmic ocean while resting on Ananta Sesa the thousend headed snake. 

Vishnu is lying with in his four hands the typical Vishnu symbols like the on the picture clearly visible discus (chakra), left of Vishnu's head. The chakra is Vishnu's main weapon to fight demons.

Shakti Peeth - Guheswari / Guheswori - Kathmandu

Guheswari (Guheswori), is one of the most famous shakti-peeths of Nepal. A shakti-peeth is a place where a piece of the body of the Sati fell while Shiva was carrying her corpse arround the world.
Guheswari where Sati's yoni (Vagina) fell is very close to the famous Pashupatinath temple just a few hundred meters upstream the holy Bagmati River.

Tilicho Lake = Kak Bhusundi Sarovar from Ramayana

Tilicho Lake the highest lake of the world at almost 5000 meters is said to be the Kak Bhusundi Sarovar lake mentioned in the Ramayana.

Kak Bhusundi Sarovar is the lake where a crow recited the Ramayana to Garuda (Vishnu's vehicle) and Shiva found some relief for missing Sita.

The Ramayana says that Kak Bhusundi Sarover is close to the Annapurna range. Tilicho Lake is a lake formed by melting glacier waters from the Annapurna mountains and the Thorung mountain.

Pathibhara Devi Temple

The shrine of the Pathibhara Devi temple is located on a mountain at 3794 meters in the far east of Nepal. The temple is holy for Hindu's as well as Buddhists.

The godesses Pathibhara is said to make dreams come true. The myth is that sheppards suddenly lost a lot of sheep in this area and that Pathibara appeared in their dreams. She promised that the sheep would return if they would offer a few sheep to her. And so they did.

Shiva is one of the trinity gods of hinduism besides Brahma & Vishnu. Shiva is a creator and  destroyer.  Shiva is refered to in more than thousend names the most common ones are; Mahadeva, Pashupati (Lord of the Animals) and Bhairava (the angry one).
Shiva has a bit of hot temper and can be made angry, instead of Vishnu who is more patient and tolerant.

Janakpur birthplace of Sita from Ramayana
