Maratika - Khotang
Maratika for Hindu's Halesi Mahadev is for tibetan buddhism the cave of bringing death to an end. This is the cave where Padmasambhava (Guru Rinponche, the founder of Tibetan Buddism) and his wife Mandarava received the Vidyadhara of longevity.
Padmasambhava and Manadarava received teachings from the Bodhisattva Avaloketesvara and Dakini Sangwa Yeshe. After 90 days Buddha Amitayus appears and they receive the Vidyadhara of longevity. After that Padmasambhava traveled on through the Himalaya to spread his buddhist teachings while Padmasambhava returned to her birthplace in India.
Holy water of Maratika
The water that drips from the stone ceilings of the cave is considered very holy and is compared to Amitayus long life nectar. Lama's make a Maratika long life pill of it.
